How to connect your domain to STUDIO

Your STUDIO site can run on an artist-owned domain or a subdomain of an existing site. Your team updates the DNS records; EVEN provides the exact values, verifies the connection and provisions the HTTPS certificate. You keep ownership of the domain and your existing DNS provider.

Choose a full domain or a subdomain

Full domain: artist.com

Use a full domain for a release-specific site or when STUDIO will replace the site currently at that address. It requires two records: an A record for the root domain and a CNAME for www.

Changing the root and www records directs those addresses to STUDIO. The current website will stop loading there. Review the STUDIO staging site and agree the switch-over with EVEN before changing these records.

Subdomain: music.artist.com

Use a subdomain when you want to keep the main artist website and give the release its own address. It requires one CNAME record. Leave the root and www records unchanged so the main website stays in place.

The addresses artist.com and music.artist.com in this guide are examples. Use the domain or subdomain agreed for your release.

Before you change DNS

• Confirm the exact domain or subdomain with EVEN and ask for the DNS values assigned to your STUDIO site. Do not copy an IP address or hostname from another campaign.

• Make sure your team can edit DNS records at the provider that manages the domain’s nameservers.

• Save a copy of the existing records so you can restore them if needed.

• Review and approve the password-protected staging link with EVEN, then agree when the domain should switch.

• Keep existing MX records, TXT records and nameservers unchanged. These may support email, verification and other services.

Option A: connect a full domain

1. Tell EVEN the domain you want to use. EVEN sends an IP address for the root domain and a hostname for www.

2. Open the domain’s DNS settings. Replace the existing A record for @, including any parking record, with the IP address issued by EVEN for this site.

3. Set the CNAME record for www to the hostname issued by EVEN. Replace any conflicting website record for www; leave unrelated records unchanged.

4. Save the changes and tell EVEN they are in place. EVEN verifies the records and provisions the HTTPS certificate.

Required records: A · host @ · value: the IP address issued by EVEN. CNAME · host www · value: the hostname issued by EVEN.

Option B: connect a subdomain

1. Agree the subdomain name with EVEN, such as music.artist.com. EVEN sends the destination hostname for that subdomain.

2. In your DNS settings, add a CNAME for the chosen subdomain. For music.artist.com, the host is usually music; follow your DNS provider’s host-field format.

3. Set the CNAME value to the exact hostname supplied by EVEN. Do not change the @ or www records.

4. Save the record and tell EVEN. EVEN verifies it and provisions the HTTPS certificate.

5. Once the connection is confirmed, add a link from the main artist website’s navigation or homepage so fans can find the STUDIO site.

Required record: CNAME · host: your chosen subdomain, such as music · value: the hostname issued by EVEN.

Verify that it works

• Open the agreed address using HTTPS and confirm the correct STUDIO site loads without a certificate warning.

• For a full-domain setup, check both the root domain and www. For a subdomain setup, check that the main artist website still loads normally.

• Confirm email and other existing services still work, and tell EVEN if anything looks wrong.

Connections are usually ready within minutes after the correct records are saved and verified. DNS propagation and certificate checks can take longer, so confirm the live connection with EVEN before sending fans to it.

If the domain does not connect

The old site or a parking page still appears

Compare the saved records with the values supplied by EVEN. For a full domain, check for an old @ A record or a conflicting www record. DNS caches may still show the previous destination while changes propagate.

A proxy or CDN is enabled

Set the STUDIO hostname to DNS-only. Do not proxy the connection through your DNS provider’s CDN. Keep unrelated hostnames unchanged.

An AAAA record exists

Remove an AAAA record only if it applies to the same hostname being connected to STUDIO. IPv6 is not supported for this connection. Do not remove AAAA records for unrelated services.

The HTTPS certificate is not issuing

If the domain uses CAA records, they must allow letsencrypt.org to issue the certificate. Keep any other authorizations your services need. Share the hostname and DNS record details with EVEN if verification is still blocked.

Ownership, rollback and launch timing

Your team retains domain ownership and can restore the previous DNS records to point the address back to its former site. Coordinate a rollback with EVEN so campaign links and reporting can be checked.

Domain connection is separate from the site build. A STUDIO site is typically ready within 72 hours after the required content and creative arrive, once your team confirms the date.

Chart-reported campaigns need additional lead time. A new storefront URL must be approved by Luminate/Billboard at least 14 days before offers go live. Confirm the URL before registration and coordinate any later change with EVEN.
