Smino Pulls Back the Curtain With ‘Maybe In Nirvana,’ a Short Film on EVEN STUDIO

An 8-minute film co-directed with City James, pay-what-you-want, lands direct to fans on Smino’s own STUDIO-powered platform

Smino released Maybe In Nirvana, a short film exploring consciousness alongside tourmate Samara Cyn, through his own artist-owned platform, built on EVEN STUDIO. Fans who join Smino’s direct-to-fan hub at zero.zerofatigue.com get access on a pay-what-you-want basis, with behind-the-scenes content starting at $5, plus community chat.

The roughly 8-minute film, co-directed by Smino and City James and produced by BASEWOOD, serves as a visual companion to Maybe In Nirvana, Smino’s December 2024 album and his first independently-released project, out via his own label, Zero Fatigue Records. The film is soundtracked by the album’s title track and arrives ahead of Smino’s Kountry Kousins tour launch.

“Exploring his own consciousness, Smino and friends answer the question, ‘Do you know why you’re here?’” Smino said of the project.

“Early access let Smino bring fans in before the wider release, not after, and that shifted the relationship. The Unified Fan Record data from his EVEN STUDIO is already shaping how the team plans future drops, and fans went from reactive to proactive, showing up engaged instead of just consuming when it dropped.” — Celena Fields, Artist Relations
